The Mango Martini recipe is sweet tart and fruity! This tasty cocktail pairs the tropical fruit with vodka and orange liqueur.

Are you mango obsessed? Try this Mango Martini! This sweet fruit is one of my favorites for using in cocktail recipes, from the Daiquiri to the Mimosa.
It’s perfect in this martini recipe, bringing a tropical flair to this sweet tart drink. Add a crunchy sugar rim, and it’s a fun signature drink for a happy hour or dinner party. Here’s how to make it!
What’s In A Mango Martini?
The Mango Martini is a spin on the flavored vodka martini, using this tropical fruit as inspiration. As you may know, the vodka martini is related to the classic Dry Martini in name only. Vodka martinis became popular in the 1990’s, mainly defined as a drink with vodka served in a martini glass.
For the mango spin you can use the fresh or frozen fruit or the juice. The ingredients in a Mango Martini are:
- Mango puree or mango juice: Mango puree gives a thicker texture; juice makes a lighter, cleaner cocktail. Keep reading for more on both!
- Vodka: Use any mid-range vodka; I typically use Tito’s.
- Cointreau or triple sec: This adds an orange essence; I usually use Cointreau which I always have on hand for my classic margarita.
- Fresh lime juice: Always use a fresh lime; bottled lime has a dull flavor.
- Simple syrup: It’s simple to make homemade simple syrup, which keeps 1 month in the fridge.

How To Make Homemade Mango Puree
Got ripe fresh mangos on hand? Then you’ll want to make the Homemade Mango Puree for this drink! It’s fast and easy to make in a blender. If you’re making multiple drinks, increase the quantities appropriately. You’ll need about 2 mangos to make 1 cup of puree. Here’s what to do:
- Cube the fruit, then blend with a splash of water until a puree forms. Go to our Mango Puree Recipe.
- Sweeten to taste. All varieties of mangos have a different flavor, and the sweetness varies on ripeness of the fruit. Add a bit of sugar or syrup to taste. Remember that you’ll also be adding sweetness to the drink itself.
- Frozen fruit works too. Defrost the frozen mangos before you blend them!

Using Mango Juice Vs. Mango Nectar
You can find two types of mango juice when you’re shopping: mango nectar and mango juice. Either work for this recipe! Here are the differences:
- Mango nectar is a beverage made from mango pulp and juice. It’s typically 50% or less juice. Mango nectar has a delicately sweet sour flavor: while it’s sweetened, the flavor isn’t overly sweet.
- Mango juice is made of 100% juice. The flavor is sweet tart and more pure than the nectar.
How To Make The Sugar Rim
The only part of this Mango Martini that requires a little effort? Making the sugar rim. Otherwise, you’ll just shake up the drink components in a cocktail shaker! Here’s what to know about making a sugar rim:
- Use a lime wedge to wet the rim of the glass. Cut a notch in it, then run it around the edge of the glass. You can do a thicker band, like you see in the photos.
- Add sugar to a plate. You don’t even have to measure: any quantity will do.
- Place the outer edge of the glass in the sugar and rotate. Make sure the outer edge is evenly coated.
Pour in the drink from the cocktail strainer, and you’re in business. Let us know what you think in the comments below!
Frequently Asked Questions
A clean, mid-range vodka works best. I like Tito’s.
Yes. Mango juice makes a lighter, brighter cocktail while puree gives more body. Use the same 1½ ounce measurement either way, and reduce the simple syrup slightly if you’re using sweetened mango nectar.
Like most flavored vodka martinis popularized in the 1990s, it’s defined by the glass rather than the recipe. A true dry martini is gin and dry vermouth.
Shake it to order. You can mix a batched recipe of the puree, lime juice, Cointreau, vodka and simple syrup up to 1 day ahead and refrigerate, then stir in 3 handfuls ice and strain into glasses.
